Both documents are available upon request.<\/p>\n\n<p>Starting from May 1, 2023, the only document proving the identity of a citizen or non-citizen of Latvia who has reached the age of 15 will be an identity card (eID card).<\/p>\n\n<p>It will be possible to have both an identity card (eID card) and a passport at the same time, with the difference that a passport as a travel document will be required only when crossing the external border.<\/p>\n\n<p>Thus, an identity card (eID card) must be obtained before April 30, 2023.<\/p>\n\n<p>For living without an identity document, the law provides for administrative liability in the form of a warning or a fine of up to 7 units of a fine (up to 35 euros).<\/p>\n","protected":false},"template":"","yoast_head":"\n<meta name=\"robots\"
