The emergency situation in Latvia is over

On June 10, 2020, the emergency situation in the territory of Latvia ended. In view of the end of the emergency situation, changes have taken place in the main regulatory enactments adopted in connection with the spread of Covid-19 infection:

On June 10, 2020, the “Law on Coping with the Consequences of the Spread of Covid-19 Infection” entered into force, the aim of which is to restore the general legal order after the end of the emergency situation and to provide support and recovery mechanisms for the Latvian economy.

The norms of the new law basically replaced the norms of the law “On Measures for the Prevention and Suppression of Threat to the State and Its Consequences Due to the Spread of Covid-19”, which expired at the same time as the new law entered into force.

On June 10, 2020, the “Covid-19 Infection Control Law” entered into force, the aim of which is to restore the general legal order after the end of the emergency situation and to provide measures that ensure the scope of rights and obligations of individuals and effective functioning of state and municipal institutions.

The norms of the new law basically replaced the norms of the law “On the Operation of State Authorities During the Emergency Situation Related to the Spread of Covid-19”, which expired at the same time as the new law came into force.

On June 10, 2020, the Cabinet of Ministers’ Regulations No. 360 “Epidemiological precautions to control the spread of Covid-19 infection” (issued under the “Covid-19 Infection Control Law”) entered into force, the aim of which is to establish epidemiological precautions and restrictions to prevent the spread of Covid-19 infection.

The norms of the new regulations basically replaced the norms of 12.03.2020. Cabinet Order No. 103 “Regarding Declaration of the Emergency Situation” (by further easing of existing restrictions) which expired as a result of the end of the emergency situation.
